THE CURE FOR HATE EDUCATION & IMPACT PROGRAM
FROM THE ROOTS OF HATE, THE SEEDS OF CHANGE
Stopping violence before it starts

At a time of rising polarization, normalized dehumanization, and increasing acts of violence, The Cure for Hate Education & Impact Program uses storytelling, education, and community engagement to interrupt the pathways that lead to radicalization. Built around the award-winning documentary The Cure for Hate (PBS Nationwide Broadcast), the program centers on a powerful truth: hate is not innate—it is learned. And what is learned can be unlearned.

THE APPROACH
At the core of the program is a film-driven, research-based curriculum designed to engage young people emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Students experience a 55-minute version of the film, followed by facilitated discussions and experiential, theme-based learning modules that explore:
-
The roots of identity, grievance, and indoctrination
-
The mechanics of “othering” and dehumanization
-
The role of compassion, curiosity, and courage (the “3 C’s”)
-
Vulnerability to polarization—online and offline
-
Digital literacy as a defense against polarization & ideological indoctrination
-
The legacy of trauma, shame, and historical memory
This modular, flexible pedagogy allows educators to tailor the experience to their communities—whether in classrooms, assemblies, or community forums—while ensuring the lessons endure long after the program ends

A WHOLE-OF-SOCIETY MODEL
Hate does not develop in isolation—and neither does prevention.
The program extends beyond schools into communities through:
-
Professional Development seminars for educators
-
Town halls, panels, and facilitated dialogues
-
Interfaith and cross-community workshops
-
College and university engagements
-
Partnerships with anti-violence and education organizations

PROVEN IMPACT
The program has already demonstrated significant national reach and engagement:
-
10,000+ students reached across 60+ secondary & higher ed schools
-
15,000+ total engagements through screenings and community events
-
Program now in it's fourth year, driven by demand from educators and communities
What began as a film has evolved into a scalable, field-tested intervention—meeting a clear and urgent need.

WHY IT MATTERS
Young people today are navigating a world shaped by algorithmic echo chambers, cultural upheaval, and increasing exposure to extremist ideologies.
The Cure for Hate Education & Impact Program provides a critical counterweight:
A way to understand the roots of hate.
A way to interrupt its spread.
A way to build a more compassionate, resilient future.
